WHAT IS IT?

SEASONS is a theatrical storytelling experiment set to Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons as reinterpreted by contemporary composer Max Richter. Through music, movement, and projected images & text, SEASONS explores the cycles of human experience through the personal stories of the performers themselves.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Anybody aged 12 to 100! We are looking for you! SEASONS is designed to be performed by anyone, regardless of experience or ability. All that is required is the ability to be natural in front of an audience, and a willingness to play! No previous performance experience is required.

WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO?

We will create this performance together! In our first workshop, we’ll lead participants through a simple writing exercise based on memories from each of the four seasons. For the performance, there are no parts to play, no lines to memorize – there is simply a group of people, being themselves (guided by a few prompts) on stage. Over two rehearsals, participants will learn and practice very simple choreography. For example, one scene may have performers writing love notes and putting them inside balloons, or having a water gun fight, or sending paper airplanes into the audience.

WHEN DOES IT HAPPEN?

The performance will take place on April 4th 2020 at The Grace Jollymore Joyce Arts Centre in Tatamagouche. We will have an initial meeting & workshop on March 7th, and we will rehearse April 3-4. The performance of SEASONS is about 45 minutes long and will be paired with Counting to 100, a solo performance by Michael Lake.

Saturday, March 7, 1-5pm – First meeting & workshop
Friday, April 3, 6-9pm – First Rehearsal
Saturday, April 4, 11am-3pm – Second Rehearsal; Performance at 7pm!

“It’s a little bit of magic, or many bits of magic woven together. I giggled the whole time. Just. Go.”

– Katie Dorian

“Last night I went to Seasons. I am going again tonight. It’s a breath of fresh air.”

– Richie Wilcox
